Instructions
1. Locate something on your computer that you want to "capture" or take a screenshot of. It can be a document, a website, an email -- anything that you can see on the monitor.
2. Press the "Command," "Shift' and "4" keys simultaneously to turn on a special cursor.
3. Click and drag the cursor to highlight the area you want to capture. When you let go of your mouse click, the computer takes a snapshot of the highlighted area.
4. Look on your desktop for a file named "Screen Shot" with a date and time. Open it with Preview or any other image viewing application.
5. Press the "Command," "Shift" and "3" keys simultaneously to make a screenshot of the entire screen.
Tips & Warnings
- The screenshots are saved as PDFs if you are using OS X 10.2 or later. Earlier versions of the system software save the screenshots as TIFF files.
- Remember, screenshots of copyrighted images are still copyrighted images. Don't be too trigger happy and start placing copyrighted images that you've captured onto your website, as this is still illegal.
